Tom Spreadborough from Farnham Golf Club pipped a strong full field to win the Chanctonbury Ring at West Sussex with rounds of 72 and 67 for a total of 139, a superb effort in conditions made extremely testing by the cold and windy weather. Edward Richardson from Rye, a previous winner of this famous competition which dates from 1936, was only 1 shot away in second place with 2 rounds of 70. Ashley Rees from East Sussex National, Daniel Taplin from Chartham Park and Richard Leeves from Neville were 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively, all with a total of 142.

The Chanctonbury Ring is a 36 hole Scratch Medal event with a field of 52 players which this year ranged from 3 Handicap to +2 and half the field had handicaps of scratch or better.

Here is a photograph of the winner receiving the trophy from Club Captain Geoffrey Bush.
